One of my goals in life is to be a wine connoisseur. No, but seriously!
Earlier this year, my aunt Keena was raving about a Peach white wine she drank at The Walnut Grille in Pittsburgh. She told me that she couldn’t find the wine anywhere because it was from a local winery, Narcisi; a family owned winery and restaurant North of Pittsburgh. I started to share with her how I really wanted to go to wine country, do a tasting and live my best life! So, we did our research, and low and behold Narcisi Winery was only 30 minutes from our neighborhood! We were determined to go for my 21st birthday back in January but for obvious reasons, I didn’t even make it out of my bed that day. (LOL)
After months of procrastinating and rescheduling, we finally made it to Narcisi Winery this past weekend. The weather was perfect, the wine was delish and not to mention the scenery was to die for. Our day began with a private tour around 10:30 in the morning, which lasted about two hours. We started in the vineyard then moved to wine production where we learned how they crush, press, age, and bottle the wine. Immediately after our tour, we were given a private tasting of seven wines, four dry and three sweet in their beautiful balcony area. We sample their Rosabella, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, Granato, Peach, Blackberry, and Concord. While tasting we also learned how to properly swirl, smell and sip. I can honestly say I learned so much that I’m literally on my way to being a young connoisseur.
Shortly after our tour, my aunt made reservations for two at their restaurant right next door. Of all the tastings, we loved the Peach white wine the best, so to no surprise, we ordered a bottle for the table. We both enjoyed their Chicken Milan; Italian breaded chicken topped with fresh mozzarella and served with herb linguine and marinara sauce. It was soooooo good!
Of course, we couldn’t leave without purchasing a few treats. My aunt literally left with a case of all her favorites (GOALS) and I left with a bottle of the Peach white wine and a bottle of their red Concord.
It was one of the most beautiful days of my life and I shared it with one of my favorite people in the world.
Napa Valley, you’re up next!
